Happy Earth Day! It's also #RockinTuesday so I thought I'd find a good rock photo. This is from June 2022. Saranac River, #Adirondacks

I've gone back through some of my photos. These are screenshots of the originals, but I was able to expand them and still see detail.
Bug with black wings, except for one white stripe that runs across them. There are other white speckles, but the stripe is most pronounced. The bug is perched on my hand. Cream colored butterfly. It has a little bit of brown in small parallel places on just the leading edge of its wings. The bottom edge of the wings is pretty ragged. It's perched on a green plant stem. Small white butterfly. It has a black body and a little bit of gray on the edge of its wings. The bottom of one of its wings has a small vertical piece missing. It's sitting on a small white cluster of flowers.

I went for a long walk on the rail trail a couple days ago and there was a muskrat out on Lake Colby.

Happy Monday! Here's one of my favorite lily photos I've taken. I love macro photography because by taking the time to look at the small things, I usually find even tinier things. Taken July '23

Some bleeding hearts for #MacroMonday from a garden near Rochester, NY last May. I'm looking forward to the flowers, insects and birds returning.
Photo is of three pink flowers slightly overlapping from front to back. Each flower looks like a pink heart that is splitting at the bottom. The pink part is earlobe shaped with a small, upward turned tail at the bottom. Those earlobes form a heart. Coming down from the v split in the heart is a white stem with a wider part at the bottom that looks like a droplet when seen from the front. That white droplet sits below the heart and it's about as long as the top pink parts would be if they were together.

It's Weevil Wednesday! I love all these days highlighting different creatures! I didn't even know there were weevils where I live until I discovered this one last spring. I was so excited! And it's so beautiful! June '24 near Lake Placid, NY.

A shiny, metallic green beetle with a long nose. It's legs are that same metallic green. It's standing on some brownish tan rock that has orange dots scattered around. The same metallic green beetle standing on a splotchy green and yellow leaf that is being held in a hand. It's a side view of the beetle and it's balancing on the edge of the leaf. Both stand out against the background of the light-colored flesh of the person holding the leaf in front of their arm.

Super friendly boat-billed heron I got to take photos of in Feb 2022 at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, PA.
Photo is of a bird standing up about the size of a rugby ball. It has a very wide, flat-ish but thick bill that's dark gray colored, but not shiny because it's a bit dirty. The cheeks, forehead, and stomach of the bird are peach colored. The top of its head from the forehead and over the shiny, black eyes all the way down the back of the head has dark slate colored feathers. Its wings are folded behind and they are a light gray. The same dark slate colors appear on some feathers that are on either side of its body, in front of the wings and hanging down towards the legs. The legs are light tan and there's a blue leg band at the bottom of each one.

I wanted to get in on #MothMonday and #MacroMonday so I'm adding this pic I took last summer of a Virginia ctenucha (I think). I enjoyed watching and photographing it. Taken near Lake Placid, NY.

It was a great day for the parade!
