I dislike self checkout because it supports less employees and try to avoid them.
CVS has made it almost impossible to not use self checkout. Since CVS has locked up the majority of their products, I find myself avoiding them for everything except the occasional required prescription.

Yes, that's exactly the issue.
I believe this is a case of the lobby end overstepping their role by trying to suppress an important ethical conversation of members. He/they aren't the the Ethics Council. I'm not clear where they believe their authority to ask for this comes from.

I'm not certain what you are asking. Do other professional organizations make a similar argument?
