Kyiv.
We had one hour of electricity and were told we’ll get about 1.5-2 hours a day (yes, out of 24 hours).
The boiler heated water,
I washed my hair,
charged the EcoFlow (not fully).

That’s all.
These are the consequences of russian attacks.

Greetings from Kyiv
and a warcoffee after the workout.

The repairman fixed the windows, and I hope the little warmth we still have will now stay inside the flat.

1,126 high-rise buildings on the left bank of Kyiv (where I live) remain without heating after the latest russian attack.

Greetings from Kyiv.

Winter’s survival mode drains a lot of energy.
Voltage drops and constant power cuts wear out the meter. I have to choose what to charge in the rare hours of electricity.
Finally found someone to fix the windows, the drafts make the flat even colder.

Spring, we need you.

I don't often wear political t-shirts, but I'm proudly sporting this one today.

I'm an immigrant.

I teach American (and international!) college students, research the U.S. economy, consult with policymakers, write books, raise my kids, pay taxes, and try to make this a better place.

Greetings from Kyiv.

I know some of you care, so I came here to say hi.
Nothing new: low heating, power outages.
At least cold water is stable (hot water appears only when we have electricity).

-8 °C and snow outside. Tropical vibes 😂

Heads are going to explode 💥

Cato Institute just nuked the lie. Immigrants have cut U.S. deficits by $14.5 TRILLION since 1994, slashing the national debt by a third.

All that “immigrants are bleeding us dry” noise? Absolute bullshit.

Afternoon after the night attack.
I came for a warcoffee and to charge my phone.
No electricity at home, and unclear when it’ll be back.

Just saw this outside my window.

A truck loaded with what’s left of windows.
It carries many sad stories.

Yes, it’s astonishing that Kristi Noem still has her job after the deaths, lies, and failures on her watch.

But the American people have the final say when it comes to holding this entire administration - from the president on down - accountable for its cruelty and corruption.

I came home.
Water is back,
minimal heat is back.

Unbelievable.
I’ll live in this city, in this country, until my last breath.

Oh my.

Emergency situation in the energy sector.
Since last night, the curfew has been eased so people can reach the Points of Invincibility (public warming and charging shelters) anytime.

We hold on.
But let’s not forget: we’re made of flesh and blood, just like you.

"Iron laws of the world"? Some of America's most important national accomplishments are about leading humanity away from this kind of bullshit.

If we let ideologues like Stephen Miller drag us back into a world where brute force is all that matters, all of us will be less safe.

Kyiv tomorrow:
rolling power outages –
7 hours without electricity,
3.5 hours with it.
Then repeat.

Just a reminder for the world of what russia does.

Ukraine was under a massive russian attack last night.
The target was critical infrastructure.

After midnight in Kyiv.
The siren is crying.
Everything’s charged in case of another attack.

What kind of demonic ritual do russians have on Fridays?
They usually choose this night for attacks.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?
