The United Nations has declared Israel’s war on Gaza as genocide for the first time, a landmark moment. Navi Pillay, chair of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, made the announcement of the UN inquiry to Al Jazeera on Tuesday. “We’ve identified the president [Isaac Herzog], the Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu and the former minister of defence [Yoav Gallant] based on their statements and the orders that they’ve given,” Pillay said in an interview.

Over the years, we have informed you of events, both current and historical, and have reported live from several battles, graveyards and legendary battlefields, and we did it with love. Not because we love the sounds our humming transmitters and generators make (although we absolutely do) and not because we love yelling into the void (although we absolutely love that too), but because we loved how much all of us CARED. We care about the history of this city, we care about the groups, the sieges, the dead, the living and all those in between, the stories, the people who made all of this worth it. Not just the radio broadcasts and reporting, but literally all of it. We know we cared, and we know you did too. Thank you for caring about your suburbs. Thank you for caring about your groups. Thank you all for just under 20 years of caring about this silly little corner of the internet. Thank you all for caring about each other. Let this be Radio Malton's final call to action: Never forget what we did in this unique place and during these unique twenty years. Never regret the good times that were had, the absurd events we participated in and the people we all met along the way. It ends on the fourteenth, and it's not coming back. Erica C Barnett: There’s been a big shift since the murder of bus driver Shaun Yim toward more heavily policing buses and trains—it’s almost like the era of less punitive approaches to things like fare evasion never happened. Do you think we need more security on buses and trains, and what should it look like? Katie Wilson: This is personal to me. I ride transit almost every day, usually with my young child, so I definitely occasionally experience situations that feel, certainly uncomfortable, and in some cases unsafe. My organization [the Transit Riders Union] has a range of opinions, but speaking for myself as candidate, I do think we need more official presence on board transit. What that looks like is open for discussion. Is it ambassador-type roles, security- type roles? I do have some concerns about the idea of having armed security or police on transit because of the kind of militarized environment it creates and the potential for danger it creates. We need to have that discussion. We need to try things at a small scale and see how they work. ECB: Are there other things you would do, as mayor, to improve the regional transportation system?

Re-admitting the states as their military districts would have solved a lot w/r/t how the U.S. Senate continued to behave for the next hundred years (and beyond)

Tho as a Texan, I would say grouping Louisiana in with Arkansas and Mississippi makes more geographic and aesthetic sense
Reconstruction military districts: Virginia is 1, North and South Carolina is 2, Georgia, Florida and and Alabama are 3, Mississippi and Arkansas are 4, and Texas and Louisiana are five, reducing the total senators for the rebellious states from 20 to 10
