The Jacobite rebellions were quickly turned into a romanticised tale about a royal family and devotion to the Crown and aristocracy. It's impossible to dress up the 1820 Radical War in servile tartan, with a side dish of shortbread and forelock tugging, so it gets ignored. It's very inconvenient.

The Hutton Report destroyed the BBC and left it unable to criticise any future UK govt action or policy.
Mr Campbell was in the thick of this, alongside Peter Mandelson. There was a mixed feeling of shock, fear and the dawning realisation that we had been completely stitched up.
Horrible times.

Kemi Badenoch has just said it's a ploy to distract people from Andy Burnham's leadership ambitions. I don't really think Andy Burnham is on the minds of many in Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland either. It's a very Anglo-centric notion.
