After bowling almost every day this summer and being wildly uneven in my play I hit a new record with 5 strikes in a row and a score of 211.

I will never do it again.

I was reading to my 10 year old tonight before bed. He was sketching on paper and then moved to his tiny etch a sketch.

I stayed up too late devouring The Dearly Beloved by Cara Wall.

The story of two co-pastors in the 1960s New York City and how they grappled with God and one another as they were knit together as a community.

At a friend’s 4 year old birthday. They got a fire truck and it has a foam sprayer for the kids to play in.

It has been six days and the top fell off

And all the leaves and grass that got rolled up in the snow is falling to the base of the snowman.

Pretty much all the snow is gone from our Friday snow day. But our very dirty snowman is going to last for a while I think. It was made of most of the snow in our yard Friday. We even built a ramp to get the 2nd and 3rd levels out on.

(2nd pic is from Friday afternoon when we built it)

Making good use of our snow day

I am reminded this morning that kids need experience to understand the world. My kids haven’t really interacted with snow in 3 years. They have more experience watching people on movies or TV play in the snow than actually touching it themselves.

Went to see my grandmother Sunday. It had been just over two years since I had been to PA to see her. She was in good spirits. But everyone commented how alert and communicative she had been Sunday. Yesterday she was moved to the nursing home side of the center lives in.

This is our paired down menu. (Still probably too much but it is as little as we can cut right now.)

I needed another gallon of oil. It is fully cooked but the top is definately not as pretty.

At the pumpkin patch with sister in law and nieces. And you have to take this picture with the kids.

Every year our local high school starts their homecoming parade in our front yard. And my kids get a ton of candy, most of which we use to give away at Halloween.

This year’s haul. And there were a bunch of kids gathered in our yard that had equal amounts they took home.

Better pic of one of the spiders.

Been out of town and came home to about 10 of these giant spider webs. This may not seem big but that spider in the middle is the size of my palm.

My son wants us to keep them all as Halloween decorations

I had surgery for a lot of hernias last week. I am doing SOOOO much better today than Friday and Saturday. But still spending a lot of time with homemade ice packs to keep swelling down. No pains meds since I woke up and things are okay.

And day two of rainbow sightings. This one was a double rainbow in person but can’t really see it in the picture. This was after whiteout level rainstorms for way too long.
July 31, 2023 at 3:31 AM
This is a much brighter and more vivid rainbow in person than in the picture.

This is a good album though.

My daughter is doing a ropes course. 2 years ago she had a panic attack about it. She started counseling around anxiety 18 months ago. She spent about 9 months on anti anxiety meds (and then she decided she wanted to come off the & see how he was doing).

Today she asked me not to come with her.

Ahh. Facebook memories of things I have no memory of.

Speaking of being old. I scheduled the corrective surgery on the (3!) hernias that I have that need fixed for about six weeks.

Being an old dad is great (most of the time)
