Miami Hurricanes beat writer for the South Florida Sun Sentinel. He/Him. Posting through it. These are crazy days but they make me shine. Tips/jokes: [email protected]
Nothing crazy on Miami’s initial injury report for Saturday’s game against Pitt. Charles Brantley, who has played sparingly this season, is listed as out.

Defensive lineman David Blay Jr. is listed as questionable.

Pitt RB Desmond Reid is listed as questionable.

I asked Mario Cristobal about the decision-making process on the final offensive drive today and whether getting "style points" to look as good as possible for the committee is part of that.

Mario Cristobal's full quote on Jakobe Thomas' injury. Looks like the Hurricanes might have really dodged a bullet.

If you’re a Miami fan planning to go to Pittsburgh for the Hurricanes’ season finale against the Panthers, go dig up your winter coat. 🥶🥶🥶

Well that settles it.

Miami will have to make the ACC title game.
November 20, 2025 at 7:43 PM
I took a look at each team’s top 5 opponents. Both teams went 3-2 against those five teams.

Miami has the best win. The teams Notre Dame lost to are better than the teams Miami lost to. The teams Miami beat were better than the teams ND beat.

These teams are very similar.

The Hurricanes basketball team officially announced the signing of five-star prospect Caleb Gaskins.

The Miami Herald's Jordan McPherson and I are discussing what would need to happen for Miami to make the ACC title game.

It could theoretically rest on UNC vs. Duke.

Miami sports fans needing to root for a Bill Belichick team against Manny Diaz.

If I'm understanding this correctly, if Miami was 12 instead of 13, then they would be "allowed" to compare UM and Notre Dame, and the head to head would come into play.

But because the committee values Utah's two losses to highly ranked teams over bad non-con, 1 T-25 win, it's a non-factor.
November 19, 2025 at 3:06 AM
You put these quotes side by side, and I just don't get it.

With Utah and Miami, they compare the losses because there are no common opponents or head to head.

With Notre Dame and Miami, they compare the losses instead of common opponents and a head-to-head.
November 19, 2025 at 3:03 AM
I asked CFP chair Hunter Yurachek about what differentiates No. 13 Miami and No. 12 Utah, and he seems to be saying say that losses come into play to compare teams when there ISN'T a head-to-head or common opponents.

No idea what we're doing here.
November 19, 2025 at 2:54 AM
New CFP committee chair Hunter Yurachek says the committee is not directly comparing Notre Dame and Miami yet. But if Miami moves up by winning and other teams falling, it will be a major comparison point.
