Speaking for all hockey fans watching the Habs-Leafs, what the hell is this German techno from Hell?

I’ve been working on a long form piece about chimpanzees for the past few months. Let me tell you, as amazing as you may think Jane Goodall was, she was even more so.

A Lionel Richie podcast called Talking on the Ceiling. Is that anything?

He's become more meme than man, and that's too bad. Those early Sabbath records are insane, as is everything he did with Randy Rhoads. There will only ever be one Prince of Fucking Darkness.

Just learned via press release that tomorrow is World AI Appreciation Day, and never been more sure we're living in hell.

As someone who used to make part of their living explaining Canada to Americans, kinda sucks to not be living there for what is proving to be the first time in recorded history where Americans actually want Canada explained to them.

Confession time: I haven't watched Twisters yet. But despite that egregious oversight, I took a look at how the 2025 storm season is shaking up to be a doozy, yet insurance rates are largely remaining static.

Insurers are staring down the barrel of another heavy SCS loss season
Secondary perils are no longer so secondary, but the losses are already priced in for commercial property.

Trying to rally other ex-Messengers to use some of our new riches to hire a pilot to write “You suck Jimmy” in the sky over his house.
NEW: Jimmy Finkelstein has reached a settlement in the class action lawsuit filed by the ex-employees of his defunct news site The Messenger. According to the court docs, the settlement is for $4.5 million; however, plaintiffs must wait until Finkelstein's assets are liquidated to receive payment.

The world is insane but the Montreal Canadiens are going to the playoffs, so just for tonight, there’s been a slight reprieve. Go Habs Go, baby.

Had the chance to interview @jimkimowest.bsky.social a few years ago and it was a delight. Best known as Weird Al’s guitarist, he just released a beautiful acoustic guitar version of O Canada. It’s really wonderful. ffm.to/2mr1ame?mc_c...

Haven't seen much, if any, reporting on this. Last month, Paul Gosar introduced H.R. 2315, which would eliminate the Optional Practical Training program. That program offered international students the chance to work in the US temporarily after their studies.

I reported for @popsci.com recently that RFK Jr.’s advice on measles was dangerous, so I’m not exactly shocked doctors say they’re seeing kids suffering from apparent Vitamin A toxicity. This is preventable, vaccination remains the best way to avoid measles. amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/03/...
Some measles patients in West Texas show signs of vitamin A toxicity, doctors say, raising concerns about misinformation | CNN
Doctors treating people hospitalized as part of a measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico have also found themselves facing another problem: vitamin A toxicity.

Part of the danger of RFK Jr. is every now and again, he says something health-related that has a kernel of truth to it, but is still wildly dangerous. I took a look at the actual science behind using vitamin A to treat measles for @popsci.com

The shaky science behind treating measles with vitamin A
While important for overall health, the vitamin can be toxic in high doses.

Some personal news (well, actually professional, but anyway). Friday was my last day at Semiconductor Engineering. I'm starting a new gig next week and also picking up a few freelance gigs along the way. Will be posting work as it goes up as I vainly try and rebuild what was lost at the Bad Place.

Major error in the new Daredevil show. Matt says he only goes to Queens for sandwiches at Sal, Kris and Charlie’s. Real Astoria heads know the superior sandwich is at Sorriso.
