Amazing how those democratic lawmakers who were hunted down in their homes in the middle of the night in Minnesota weren’t a watershed moment of political violence, huh?

"Political violence" is a term that exists to suggest a moral distinction between "violence against politicians" and "violence by politicians" - so that one can be condemned while the other can be normalized. Obviously, no such distinction exists in reality: violence is violence.

Wouldn't it be cool if in response to Kpop Demon Hunters being the most successful animated movie of the year/all time/whatever companies paid artists to do cool original projects and more shows and movies and more stability in animation and design. Hahahhahahahahahhaha man. Oh well!

Hey Game Dev mutuals, I'd love to hear any tips and resources you use to improve your coding skills, I'm wanting to dip my toes back into a personal project but my C# skills are always a snag. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Nice job, Square Enix.

If individuals think threatening gamedevs is acceptable, likely the only boundary they'll respect is threat of material consequences.

Bungie's old legal team led the industry in this effort; good to see others getting serious about it.

This game stands for so many things: the power of games to tell stories, the ability to make games anywhere, the freedom to discuss big topics in games.

All additional funding helps us reach these goals, so if you still want to support Rasheed's dream, please do!

Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia.

Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)

BBC doing a segment on AI Tools for Court proceedings is fucking dystopian as fuck. Framing it as reducing cost and making legalaid accessible to the less fortunate is ghoulish

I love the revamping of Game Developer but am tired of all this engineers first - this is what games are - stories.

game != engine (for you nerds)

Also... the every game has to be a totally new thing, that new mechanics are required versus a good version of something is just lazy and exhausting.
One of the biggest questions in 2024 was if developers should move on from Unity and other proprietary engines, and if so, how?

At GDC 2024, developer Rez Graham made a case for building your own engine, outlining the available tools, as well as some pitfalls #GDBestof2024
Why (and how) you should leave Unity and Unreal to make your own engine
Longtime developer Rez Graham shares the advantages (and disadvantages) of building your own tech for indie game development.

As a designer, I can tell you even if you blatantly tell people how to play a game, many will either ignore it or forget it. If you bug them too often, they'll say the tutorial is too long. If you don't remind them, you'll get dinged for "not explaining".

Teaching game mechanics is hard.
I shouldn’t need to go to forums and YouTube to understand a game’s story and mechanics.
