Overall, I'm very excited to run this game. I'm a fan of Mork Borg already, and Ronin does a good job of taking the mechanics and darkness of that game and remixing it for Samurai fiction.

Unsurprisingly, the monster pages are lovely, and the starter adventure at the end seems like a great way to start. That's the one area where I wish readability was a bit more of a focus, the GM running it probably would actually need to reference that at the table.

The leveling up portion is a bit whatever to me too. "When it is earned" is a fun way to answer the question "when should the characters level up" but gets a little too close to "draw the rest of the owl" type advice for me.

Death and resurrection is very interesting. Seppuku is included as a mechanic here as a way to restore honor. A character can perform it once.

This is coupled with another mechanic. The first time you die, you go to yomi and have the opportunity to fight a demon to return to life. This is cool af.

These consequences are cool because they feel supernatural in nature, and are meaningful, but not so harmful that the character is completely cooked. Something like this one where you leave footprints is cool. It's a problem in stealth situations, it feels thematic, but you can still play the game.

I like honour sysem. Instead of having a single code of honor, each class follows their own creed with unique tenets, or you can make your own. Acting against your tenets costs honor, going above and beyond your tenets grants honor.

I'm a function over flash person for layouts, but Mork Borg and similar games get away with it because:

1. The games are simple, less need for referencing the book at the table

2. The layouts are so good! Beyond being beautiful, they tone set for the types of games the system is built for.

Today I'm reading Slightly Reckless Games' Ronin! I ordered a copy yesterday, but it came with a pdf, so I'll be digging in today. Right off the bat, the page layouts are lovely, as is to be expected from a Mork Borg inspired product.

I had a lot of fun making the picrews for the NPCs in this one :)

I've been working on some homebrew ttrpg rules for when it's my turn to run for our rpg group. I decided to make a homemade physical core rulebook I can hand out to the players. It was a lot of fun!

Tonight, our donation campaign for Point of Pride hit my goal of $1,000. Meaning including my match and my company agreeing to match up to $1,000, we will donate a minimum of $2,200 to support gender affirming care for trans people by the end of the month!

As of a couple months ago, I've come to the conclusion that I am nonbinary. I suspect I may develop a preference for a particular set of pronouns eventually but for now I am using any/all.

I still have a little bit to go, but I feel like I've seen enough to recommend Sacred Stones Reforged. It's a very fun reimagining of FE8. It feels like the developer went in with a goal of "There should be no boring units", and I think broadly, they succeeded!

Heath is becoming one of my favorite fe7 units. He comes right before a bunch of training maps and by the end of them he's totally jacked. Very satisfying growth unit. Plus I like he hair
