We're glad to see these Nebraskans taking this step. Stopping this cruel plan must be an all-in effort — taking all of us and every tool we have.

That means too many Nebraskans are still left behind and the will of the voters has been undermined. Everyone deserves the basic protection of paid sick leave.

Nebraskans overwhelmingly voted for earned paid sick leave, but even as we celebrate that progress we need to remember lawmakers chose to weaken that victory. This year, before what voters passed could even go into effect, a majority of state senators amended the law to exclude thousands of workers.
