Fifteen years ago, I got my dream job writing for MLSsoccer. Last week, that came to an end.

I'm off on my own, and it's time to build something new – with a little help from all of you.

Travel in MLS is truly wild, but it seems results aren’t greatly effected by it
Even MLS's shortest average away trip is nearly double the Premier League's longest trip — and travel isn't close to even for all 30 MLS teams ✈️

But does travel distance actually matter? Maybe not as much as we think, writes @aclausen90.bsky.social.

Some personal news: I’ve joined @us.theguardian.com as a soccer correspondent!

Thrilled to join a newsroom I’ve long admired from afar. Still proudly based in Saint Paul, MN. Still covering the sport from all angles, on-field and off. Truly a dream job: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Very, very, VERY thankful for the folks at @americansocceranalysis.com today. As well as the folks that create wonderful platforms upon which to consume their data in meaningful ways like @catabush.com and @paulharvey.theoutfield.nyc

Truly a massive bummer. I don’t think most people think about how much having stats available does to engage fans, and FBref was one of the best free to use resources for that
This really sucks, grateful for what FBref has done for soccer
