Every goddamn time. Chasing "centrists" always means moving further and further rightward, because RWers are constantly shifting the overton that way.

It's slightly different than that. They *resent* those things because they are incapable of producing it and are rubbish at discerning quality.
It's why they're so enamored of AI; it's a shortcut for them to "create" those things, but it's shitty and they can't tell anyway.

Republicans spend the rest of their time doing stuff like that too. It's perennially one of the top items on their harassment agenda, and they'll continue to thrust the pointy end of that spear as long as Democrats remain too trepidatious to stand up for basic human rights.

On top of everything else (hypocrisy, irony, etc.) it's plain gauche how trump, the sitting president, seeks to emblazon his name all over government institutions—not to mention his image on currency, which is traditionally (legally?) reserved for the deceased.
