no, it is to be tested at ambient temperature. the regulations state it has to be at 16:1 at ALL TIMES.

some of it is, but i do believe sometimes they’re just inept because they don’t foresee ramifications and just believe everyone will behave in good faith

clickbait galore when this wasn’t even the most wild qualifying crash in Baku

oh yeah it’s not 2014, but it’s still an estimated 3 tenths difference if it works correctly and that could be significant in today’s F1. we will have to see, but i am tired of the FIA not closing loopholes during big reg changes. it’s been a problem for a long time.

i could do a thread just on Charles overtaking Russell. it’s fantastic

because the FIA is not closing loopholes. and they’re not making adjustments for new regulations with testing changes.

i have thoughts on this that will not hit the public sphere because i will be attacked but :)
December 19, 2025 at 6:54 PM
but for me it ruins the aspect i like watching the most, which is the skill of these drivers. when you allow a clear advantage to slip through the cracks in this way, the driving is irrelevant even more so than it already exists in a non-spec series. and that is fucking frustrating.
December 19, 2025 at 6:51 PM
and this isn't even me being annoyed as a Ferrari fan. it's general annoyance with being a motorsport fan in general. balancing performance and not allowing clear advantages will always be a slippery slope around these parts. some rules are always going to be bent slightly.
December 19, 2025 at 6:51 PM
this has always been their fault. and i don't blame teams for trying to take advantage of it. but there is also an obvious difference between when exploitations happen for some and when they happen for others, and the imbalance is obvious and unfair.

it leads to a product that is unwatchable
December 19, 2025 at 6:51 PM
no because if it was Ferrari doing this, they'd stop it immediately upon discovering. just like they did in 2019 and 2022.
December 19, 2025 at 6:41 PM
we're going to have an extreme gap in performance that simply won't be fair.
December 19, 2025 at 6:39 PM
i am all for teams exploiting loopholes and trying to extract maximum performance from their cars. but this rule is explicitly clear: compression ratio can be no higher than 16:0. if teams are going to 18:0, that is illegal whether you can check it or not. figure it the fuck out or 2026 is dead.
