I didn’t take it as demeaning, no worries. Agree, we have to be thorns, obstacles, speed bumps, pebbles in their shoe even.

And even if my work is a doomed effort and for all naught, the alternative is to just lay down and die and let them do whatever they want with no resistance. And I refuse to do that. I want them to work hard for every single thing they want to do. I want to be a nuisance every single time.

I can’t tell the future.

What I do know is when decisions like this come down, it’s not business as usual. There are pauses for legal analysis, filings, etc. And every single day that people aren’t thrown into this abomination means human suffering is being reduced. And that has to mean something.

You do this work knowing that there will always be more to do. We skim over our victories all the time. A win for peoples’ rights will be overshadowed by tomorrow’s horror.

So god damn, let us celebrate for a minute before saying nothing we do matters.

Seeing something good happening and immediately negating it before it even happens will drive you down a path of despair and insanity.
