Families still scatter across the orchard, picking McIntosh apples and Honeycrisps. They hike across the pumpkin fields, searching for the perfect sphere to carve open and disembowel. There is even a hayride, but the thought of packing your family in that close to strangers makes you shudder.

In my absence (I'm on a jet plane), the stray cat we found has tested negative for nasties and so is being introduced to the rest of the menagerie.
A young male cat is in the middle of a catastrophically messy living room. At a distance of a few feet, two adult cats are circling him on opposite sides. There appears to be tail lashing, but the cats' ears are forward in an inquisitive and not necessarily hostile manner.

Stray cat update: Tonight, it snowed. It was too cold on our unheated, uninsulated 2nd story 4-season porch, so we moved the cat (unnamed, dang it kids, stop trying to name him!) to the basement, which at least gets heat from heatlamps, laundry, etc, and is very well insulated. #bskycats #Caturday

Stray cat update: Vet says no microchip. They can't test for sicknesses etc until after the 5-day stray period passes. Cat is not listed as missing on any of the online sites (I had to log on to NextDoor, ugh!). He is eating to make up for lost time. 🧵 #BskyCats

Tried the "giving ramen (or candy) for Halloween" thing this year. Observations! Less than half took ramen, mostly teens, and the trending brands were way most popular, LOL. Got some repeats in that age group. Little kids didn't even. They were just there for the candy, man.(🧵1/?) #Halloween
