I chatted with the help team to explain my problem and reasoning.
My chat support message to their customer service bot: "Hello! I'd like to know why Kobo has been contacting authors telling them that it's going to feed their books to Al. It's causing authors I like to publicly denounce Kobo and say they're pulling their books from your store. All of this makes it incredibly difficult for me to justify using and telling people about Kobo as a supposedly more ethical alternative to Amazon." My reply once I got through to a person: "If you could please escalate up your management chain that the use of Al will cause you to lose customers, but maintaining an ethical boundary with emerging technologies will let you keep (and gain more!) customers, I would appreciate it. Kobo has been marketed as an ethical alternative to Amazon, but that won't be true if the company uses Al on its catalog of books. Thank you!"

My toddler's very overgrown hair was looking like Julia Roberts ca. Hook the movie, so we did a haircut tonight, with minimal screamies! (The trick is to have my husband holding him in the tub making fart noises the entire time.)
