Back on Twitter, I had separate personal and professional accounts, but I want to have only one profile here. So I might post something like "Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again!" followed by "How query optimizers work, a 🧵"
praise: this looks like a useful, minimal standard for review comments.

I'm be using this on my team!
I recently discovered Conventional Comments (conventionalcomments.org) for providing a pseudo-standard set of labels for feedback and just tried it for an article review and it was really helpful to specify issues vs. thoughts vs. suggestions, etc. Hopefully it's helpful for the authors too!

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to start asking the serious questions like "what should we eat for thanksgiving?" and "what should we eat for Christmas?"

Should I go trick-or-treating with the kid who likes trick-or-treating or stay home and play Hollow Knight with the kid who doesn't like trick-or-treating?

The web has long self-selected easy options over good ones. With the rise of LLMs, I believe this is even going to be more pronounced, and it will make deep research skills *more* valuable.

I've always found Domain-Driven Design to be awkward with web apps, and I think the main reason is that it is often more difficult to maintain large aggregates, separate write models from read models, etc. when most objects last only for the one HTTP request. It makes more sense for stateful apps.

I have always wanted to get into game development, but I know I wouldn't be able to stick with it unless I had a sense of accountability to finish what I started. Are there any good beginner gamedev communities out there?

My wife took on some extra child care responsibilities today, and it was so nice to have some time to myself. I even got to bake three things: mozzarella and pesto monkey bread, beignets, and pizza.

Here's a side project I'm picturing:
A personal finance system based on double-entry bookkeeping (like GNUCash) that uses TigerBeetle and SQLite running completely locally.

After finding the Farseer Trilogy a bit slow-paced for my taste, I almost did not continue with the Liveship Traders books. Am I glad I did though! I just finished "Mad Ship," and I'm about the start Ship of Destiny. These books are fantastic, and they get me much more than the Farseer Trilogy did.

After spending the bulk of my past two weeks using Claude and Claude Code, I have to admit that they make some simple, repetitive tasks a bit easier (especially since I'm a very slow typer), but they also didn't improve my overall productivity much. Also, I kind of hate the feel of using them.

I would love a VSC-based project management system where I can create tasks as Markdown files that are stored in Git that follow certain templates and have project management assets stored alongside my code.
Internet, does such a thing exist?
