Thrilled that our new paper is now out !
New in #JNeurosci from @a-alexandris.bsky.social et al: Following traumatic brain injury, mice show sex differences in how their surviving retinal ganglion cells compensate to promote recovery.

In our new study (doi.org/10.1093/jnen...), we map high-resolution changes in the visual system in the EAE model of MS. Early deficits in axonal transport and function occur before overt axon or RGC loss, highlighting a window for axon-targeted neuroprotection in demyelinating disease. 1/5
Temporal progression of axonal degeneration in the visual system in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis: Insights from high-resolution neuropathology
Abstract. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterized by inflammation, demyelination, and axonal degeneration in the CNS, leading to progressive neurological

Our new paper is out! Even with helmet protection, high-energy blunt trauma can lead to fatal respiratory failure. Our study maps specific brainstem injury patterns, revealing critical implications for #TBI & protection. Patterns of #vascularinjury#axonalinjury www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/...
Diffuse Axonal and Vascular Pathology in the Gyrencephalic Brain after High-Energy Blunt Injury: Clinicopathological Correlations Involving the Brainstem | Journal of Neurotrauma
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) after high-energy, behind helmet blunt trauma (BHBT) is an important but poorly understood clinical entity often associated with apnea and death in humans. In this study, ...
