Two days later, I can confirm that the 2024 computer is in fact better than the 2015 one. I also got my first 4K (or above 1080p) monitor, which is a more drastic upgrade than I had imagined - especially for productivity.

My ol' i5-6600k, 1070 machine has served me well for nearly a decade. In fact, it still chugs along just fine.
