Epic cross country drive to get back home to the Southwest with my fur bestie!
So far we’ve made stops in Carsile PA (RIP); checked out eutrophication in West Virginia, and caught a gorgeous sunset somewhere in Indiana.
Always welcoming stop suggestions and podcast recommendations!

Our Indigenous Data Governance Task Force within @gbif.org, currently represents 8 Nation States. We had our first in person gathering at the #LivingData2025 Conference in Colombia 🇨🇴 this week, along with GBIF ED Joe Miller. We are leaving feeling more connected, inspired and motivated with ideas 💡

Such a cool experience this morning, paddling with our Indigenous students (with Yo Yo Ma), being invited to the land by Wabanaki relatives, and then witnessing Yo Yo Ma’s incredible music at a sunrise concert ✨

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! Sharing a few photos from hosting my first campus event “From Ashes to Spores: Indigenous Women Restoring Land Relations”; we had a panel facilitated by student leaders with 2 incredible early career scholars, as well as a day spent creating outside with earth pigments

#Fallcolors in Northern Vermont from this weekend… it was the perfect decompression from all the activity at #NYCClimateWeek, and a reminder of how beautiful our earth is, and the work we need to do to protect our environment!

I got this sent to me from a Pascua Yaqui undergraduate student in Tucson who is in a soils class this semester. She said it was so meaningful to see not only women but someone from her tribe up there. I just about cried. This work matters. We matter ❤️🤍💙

I love going for trail runs in New England, but as an Indigenous person, these trail makes are so cross (and even make my dog pissed).
I teach a whole section in my class about outdoor recreation & signage. Trail names are intentional in educating the public and who does and doesn’t belong.

Last week we had a pretty amazing class kayaking with a Passamaquoddy knowledge holder to talk about water relations with the Connecticut River, as well as New England Indigenous fishing and hunting rights. Summer class on the river is the way to go!

In VT/NH, the air quality has been super funky due to the wildfires in Canada. A reminder that ecosystems don’t care about political borders and that climate action for clear air is all our responsibility!
