What if a good friend ( @greatdumbass.bsky.social ) commissioned me to design a character for my favorite homemade race of goobers, the Pyriri?
A character design sheet depicting Karapiri, a short Pyriri (lizard person) with a short stature and huge horns and tail. They are also wearing a massive hooded white and pink robe decorated with striped strings, bells, pouches, and a scarf around their neck. Various doodles depict her shortness, silliness, shyness, and love of cleaning.

My mind was overtaken by this creature for a few days during depression. Giraffe + Hydra creature that guards some ruins as a sort of "Super Boss" but one head is too friendly and the other too lazy, so adventurers are often just let through anyway.

I dont have any solid ideas for name(s) yet.

Been struggling the past couple years with Millicent bc i love her to death but she always feels like she's missing something - and I just thought "what if that something was a bunch more arms, yknow, like a centipede"

(i also just need to flesh out her personality and lore too, lmao)

I've never properly introduced my OC before... so here she is! Her name is Cross: a navigator-type robot girl. Her red scarf is NOT made of metal and often gets stuck in doors.

Her design & ref sheet were handled by the phenomenal @fushark.bsky.social; please check his work out🙏

#CrossArt
The reference sheet for C.R.O.S.S. (Content Relaying, Operating Service System; serial number DBN-X727”). She's oddly protective of her red scarf, insisting it's "cool" - despite its tendency to catch onto doors and drawers. She's overall quite responsible, but tends to be something of a mischievous instigator (when she believes she can get away with it). She also seems to love fighting games; when asked if her advanced processing ability gives her an edge against human opponents, she reasons that high-level play wearing down her hand joints "makes it fair." Tends to get very touchy whenever she's compared to "artificial intelligence models" or household appliances.

Cross is one of numerous next-generation androids - man-made machines that possess the ability to feel, think, and act for themselves. These machines were originally created in response to growing public concern that the general populace was growing too dependent on a technological infrastructure which had begun to outpace their average understanding of it.

Cross herself is part of what's generally considered to be the 7th generation of her kind. Her imprinting (the process in which an android is personally raised & taught from "childhood" to "adulthood") took place over the course of 14 months, after which she was certified for communication and management.

A drawing of Cross flashing a peace sign towards the viewer, as she bounds in a concert hall, with her assets front-and-center. Her right palm presses down on her hat to keep it from falling off her head... even though it connects with a magnet.

Early on, a major point of concern with the accord project was how exactly to develop the actual minds and personalities of this would-be breakthrough in robotics. Even those close to the heart of the project were skeptical of Lyanna Light's vision, as the volume of prototype machines continued to grow. There were some who proposed alternatives, such as an emotion circuit to counterbalance a "logic core" - proposals which Lyanna refused, on the grounds that programming emotions into machines would be contrary to the very idea of emotions themselves. She would argue about how it was important that they created a foundation from which those emotions could be felt from within, rather than analyzed and dryly executed as a dull piece of code.

While some engineers splintered off from the project and pursued their own path towards artificial life (leading to LLMs and their successor, GAIs), Albrite Industries' efforts would pay off, as accords became the first machines capable of truly independent thought, free will, and real emotion. Accords will even display idiosyncrasies or odd habits akin to humans - though in some cases, these quirks defy conventional explanation. This can be most commonly seen through nostalgic whims some accords feel for certain places or sensations - despite having no prior engagement. Songs that seem to stir sad memories, locales that feel welcoming or inviting, and - in Cross's case - an aversion to fire and explosive sounds.

Some yet remain doubtful that accords aren't simply following a set of basic directives, but one thing is certain: there's still much about these machines that we don't fully understand yet.

This piece was a Skeb drawn by the phenomenal @gonzarez1938.bsky.social!
