Your post made me go check facebook marketplace and while I didn't find a loom in my price range I did find 21kgs of wool yarn for weaving on my rigid heddle and/or peg loom. Picking it up tomorrow.

For anyone interested, here's the photo we found of mom making this cake. As soon as I saw the colour of what is in the mixer, I knew what it was.

I've made this every year on Samhain for a while now. It's my mom's Coffee cake and there's a photo of her making this on my kitchen altar.
Yes, in the UK, coffee cake is a coffee flavoured cake, not a streusel topped cake to have with coffee.

Very busy Samhain in this Witch's kitchen.
Sourdough bread, since. Big batch of yogurt, in the instant pot. Roasted pumpkins to make puree for the freezer, cooling (did you know if you today then like this you can just peel most of the skin off with your fingers). My mom's Coffee cake, .....

2 pumpkins, cut in half and roasted, some of the skin is being peeled off. It's coming off one of them easier than the other. This will be blitzed in the food processor and popped into #SouperCubes in the freezer once it's all cooled.

Carved Swede (Turnip). I remember doing this once when I was a kid. Not as easy as a pumpkin but far more traditional.

Lots of ferments today.
Homemade sauerkraut, fermented Brussels sprouts, pickled carrots & sourdough English muffins.
Leftover roast chicken & a pot of flavoured mayo.
3 flavoured mayos open in the fridge with a plain one as well, so I've made a new rule. Only 1 flavoured mayo allowed at a time.

Lunch plate with sourdough English muffins left over roast chicken sauerkraut fermented brussel sprouts pickled carrots and some flavored mayonnaise.

My competition piece is finished.
I've just measured it and it is longer than the maximum size which means I will have to split it and mount it. I'll probably do that onto a cork board and mount it with T shaped blocking pins.
Splitting it means I'll need to get my sewing machine out.

Sourdough discard crackers for lunch.
I know I could do a sourdough starter from scratch, I've done it before, but this time I bought a fresh starter online.
It arrived late yesterday afternoon and already I have discard crackers for lunch.

Psst! Pumpkins are a treat for birds but can be harmful to hedgehogs. 🦔❌

Keep them high up out of reach and compost any leftovers to protect our garden wildlife.
