Senior Researcher at the Research Center for Pharmaceutical Engineering ( #RCPE ) in #Graz. Physicist by training and into computational fluid dynamics ( #CFD ). My journey so far: AUT πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή - GER πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ - DK πŸ‡©πŸ‡° - AUT πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή.

My #introduction πŸ‘‹
I'm a senior scientist at research center for pharmaceutical engineering (RCPE) in πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή. My background is #physics and more specific #fluiddynamics 🌊 πŸ’¦ using #CFD and #theory. My PhD was focused on #thinfilms and #droplets and I created an open source package called swalbe.jl.
It's getting cold here in #Graz and #commuting by bike is rather fresh. Sometime earlier this year I bought arm sleeves (because they were reduced in pricing) and I have to say I am impressed. Struggling with cold hands and arms, the arm problem is now sorted 😊

As a Christian, I am offended by the truth of this statement.

Got a flu shot for the first time since I can remember. Sadly my company didn't offer a Covid shot on top. In Austria there is also the free of charge shingles vaccination, plan to get that one too πŸ’‰πŸ˜Š

As a physicist, I can sleep well. There are still lots of interesting simulations to be run and specific understandings to be gained. And we still love you Euler equation! β™₯️

I finally had some time, so I installed #BazziteOS on my gaming laptop, and so far, so good! As well as being able to play games, I can also compile code, and the power management is much better under Linux. Windows kept the fan speed rather high, which my wife joked about constantly. Next step D3 πŸ‘Ή

These Pied Piper Banach and Tarski and when you try that with money it simply doesn't work! Don't listen to these Sirens, the truth is out there!

Finally someone speaks out about #BigMaths, they had us fooled for centuries with their Algebra and Calculus nonsense! πŸ˜‚

By the way, I firmly believe that letters are the highest form of academic publishing. I'm not suggesting that we should aim for that in this case, but starting with around 20 figures might be a bit excessive.

So over the last half a year, a colleague generated results for a paper that we are writing. The colleague is a rather fresh PhD student and he did some amazing simulations. But as I learned myself having nice results is only 1/3 of a done paper. Currently sorting what will end up in the appendix πŸ€”

This would be an insult to "pseudocode", which is usually a helpful tool. Why even change it now?

That is true, even for most of the smaller roads up some unknown mountains. Still cycling infrastructure in larger cities left a lot to be desired.

Loved cycling in Denmark so much because of this! Now back in Austria I feel like I got too close to the sun.

I remember Prof. Uwe Thiele from Uni MΓΌnster has worked on that topic. I think one of his PhD students was able to build a model for the fingering instability.

This sounds like a lot for a single semester! In physics, we had three or four calculus classes for the first three or four semesters πŸ˜…, and I vividly remember struggling with all of them πŸ™ˆ!

It's no wonder Japanese anime characters look like they do, when actual Japanese wildlife looks like this:

I just completed "Guard Gallivant" - Day 6 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/6, when motivation is close to an all time low something needs to work 🫠
Cool idea to mark infinite loops ♾️

This both crazy cool and scary. Getting physics models from just a few prompts is awesome. The fail safe shown with the energy balance is a neat feature! However, I'm not sold on this whole democratication of simulations approach. If you can't verify your results, things become dangerous.

Also big shout out the organizers, the event was well executed and about 14000 were running that day πŸ˜ŠπŸƒπŸ‘

What a race! Weather was perfect, almost too sunny 🌞.I started very much in the front of the block and it was rather nice to start with so many fast runners. My pace was too hot and I paid for it. Kilometers 17-18 were 20sec behind target. Still smashed HM PB by more than 3min πŸ˜„
