A few districts subject to special elections have already flipped from solidly Republican to electing a Democrat. It can happen. We live under a gerrymandered system, which makes much of this stratification possible. Most R's I've spoken to do not agree with what the federal government is doing.

Fuck that psycho.
It is going to be a great day for America and the Constitution when Mike Johnson is no longer Speaker.

Old white men don't have a monopoly on shittiness. Broken people with little to no empathy or self awareness wear all different skin colors, and it is a problem we have collectively neglected for .... like since civilization.

Some folks enjoy competition. I suspect the people who are more likely to be competitive with their hobby enjoyment are that way—otherwise I think they would just slow down and enjoy the activity in its own right.

Do you perhaps struggle with that inclination?

I don't know that they will never not vote Republican. There's a reason they vote against their well-being, and it is my experience that it often comes from systemic indoctrination.

Anyway, believing my fellow citizens can't change their minds is a dead end to me. I just have to believe in them.

I'm surprised I don't see that kind of thing more often. Maybe because people don't want to share their approximate localities online.

That sounds awful. I'm glad you weren't actually on a perpetually crashing plane.

Most Republicans I've spoken with just lack media literacy. They were easy to trick, and too trusting of their own biases.

I know they are frustrating, but they are people, and their minds can be changed—if they feel their concerns are understood, and that our solutions will really help them.

There is more & more research showing that using an LLM to write code (or anything, really) for you makes YOU worse at doing that thing in the first place. That's bad when YOU are the one who's supposed to be vetting the output. I thereby do not use LLMs to aid my software dev.

It's hard not to forget we aren't alone in our anger and despair at what's transpiring in our country.

Thank you for the reminder.

There are so many problems today. At least in the US, the current administration is a big obstacle to actually addressing climate disasters we are experiencing. The focus on Epstein crosses the very large divide between D and R, potentially bringing us together on something important.

Slate Auto looks promising in this regard.
The fatal flaw the major US automakers made was following the Tesla model of the EV by making big, expensive vehicles that were out of reach of most consumers.

Start by giving people the option of an affordable car or small crossover, not a monstrous(ly expensive) truck or SUV.
How America’s EV retreat is increasing China's control of global markets
U.S. automakers are pivoting away from EVs to refocus on gas-guzzling trucks and SUVs while Chinese manufacturers are expected to keep growing electric exports.
