Finally got some photos of the weird bug in my room

HG dunbine kit
The cockpit has a cool reflective plastic and the body has a unique matte plastic with a unique texture

(Zalotl hand reveal???)

Back of the kit (aura farmer dunbine)
All the green bits are painted

Kit in a specific pose (ohh which one i wonder)

The head did need a bunch of paint (black line, black and green on mouth) but with it it all really comes together

id need to correct my first statement though, seems that its not that these elements are not cool (because i agree they are very cool) but rather, some elements that are not perceived as "conventionally attractive/cool" in the time period they were introduced... or smth

Thinking about it on context, i guess going from the og gundam to a gundam thats totally different (not even the same face!) that transforms into a scifi plane is in itself weird lol.

But yeah i guess the half a jet was probably a compromise for its transformation. still cool though

I wasnt thinking of the Zeta specifically but its funny you mention it, i think i read somewhere that back when Zeta released its design was considered strange

But for an example, the F91 is a design that is iconic because its a bit weird, the car elements, the opening mask and face, it stands out

Imo a good character (mecha) design cant be all 100% cool to be *really* good.

of course its not inherently bad, but making a design like that often results in an ok (but not truly iconic) result.

And i think the heels sorta make sense if you think on the structure of horse hoofs in relation to the human foot, as in where a horse applies pressure when running. Its clever

Uma Goldship has a nice design. i cant figure it out exactly but the straps, hat, and flaired red uniform makes me think of a blend of something like a dragoon uniform (17th century mounted cavalry) and horse mount
