8 March 1902 | A German Jewish woman, Helene Simon, was born in Waibstadt. She was a bank clerk.

In 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

We brought most of them to the local pond, and kept just three (one for each children).

Some did, some did not. But I think I had for a long while, until the cat decided otherwise. Tadpoles were a real funny story! We picked them innocently as they were tiny things; my mum did not expect them to live long… until one day it was clear that they would; when the first one became a toad…
