I wanted to ask her how she came to that conclusion so bad. But maybe I should look up if there is a big one happening this weekend and I’m the ignorant one.

Either way I legit just stopped talking.
I’m in line for a famous bakery’s croissant and strike up a conversation with the woman in front of me. It came up that I was here for a conference and she goes (unprovoked): OH for an anime con?

Wait. What? Do people who go to anime conventions say “I’m here for a conference”
It’s her design. It’s a pattern of dozens of such silhouette scenes. You basically walk around the room trying to make sure you have seen them all.
Have you ever seen the wallpaper at the Underground Museum in LA? 🤯
But now I’m finally in Paris and it’s so funny how it feels like NY with some flourishes to me.
And also there is a screeching baby in that car who has gone one the full 2 hours. So. I suppose this is a mixed bag. Because I only hear it when the door opens.

Also why don’t they show these weird doors on spy movies and they have to run across the train???
Blessings bless because the puke is closer to the main seating area and I’m near the stairs. So. I won’t have to walk over that to get off like everyone else.
- A little boy comes running past and throws up inches from my lap.

- his father tries to wipe it up with baby wipes. I have Clorox wipes. I’m trying to explain to him it’s better but. For whatever reason he doesn’t believe me.
So I’m riding the train to Paris and I had a beautiful window seat until:
- I got to the next to the last stop which is 2 hours from Paris only to be told I didn’t have a seat and had to sit on the bench near the bathroom. 🫠
And I will be seated in a theater to see it too.
Jafar Panahi's Palme d'Or winner, IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT, is now playing in New York and Los Angeles theatres. A film of blistering rage and implacable moral authority, in which Panahi's presence, experience and courage are stamped into every frame: www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

The Iranian director’s Palme d’Or-winning thriller, “It Was Just an Accident,” set the tone for a festival defined by dramas of political resistance.

Yeah!! Exactly! It’s a unique challenge in a way.
OH. That’s the problem. You can’t export the propaganda easily unless it’s potatoes. LOLOLOL.

They’ve painted themselves into a little bit of a box. But they also have a large enough population not to care. Just like India. Who also DOMINATED the space.
Yeah but they are so picky and slow as partners culturally it’s a real drag.

I pitched two Chinese countries and walked away feeling like 😓
I didn’t but probably because I wasn’t looking for it. Next year you all can send me with an assignment list. 😆😅
Exactly. Soft power is a long game strategy that takes a lot of investment.

I do think sharing culture in this way gets uncomfy sometimes for the average citizen. I really wonder how this impacts things on a social level. These aren’t just widgets. It’s culture in the broadest meaning of it.
It’s kind of crazy how much all of our countries work really hard to inject values into our media.

On the one hand it’s not always as nefarious as conspiracy theorists like to purport. But THEN something like potato propaganda happens and it’s like. 🤔
I didn’t see the same from any other country with such coordination.
I mean they paid for the real estate on our badge holders. It’s clear they mean business.
Not asking a lot at all. Especially if I get to remain the anonymous BSkyer.

I totally swiped a few cards from the various prodcos to see what they are trying to distribute etc.

But for example Korea sponsored our badges and had this up in various places.
Ok algorithm. I’m literally waiting for the train on the way to Paris.
Yes!! That’s it. There is just not enough
