Got a mummichog and some coastal shiners from the river. They have been eating the bug bites quite happily. There's a couple of Eastern mosquitofish in there that hitchhiked in with the shiners.

I set up the tub early February and let it sit for a month while adding plants from local ponds and my other aquariums. It's got a small canister filter set up from an old aquarium. The fish have been in since the last frost and are already pumping out babies.

A couple inches of play sand amended with laterite and some plant spikes on the bottom. The sand was actually last year's bottom composted over the winter with the irises still in it under the old tub.

The "pond" has turned out nicely this year. I'll have to see about getting a bigger container for next.

A 30 gallon storage bin converted into an outdoor pond. Lots of surface plants including hornwort and salvinia as well as wild irises and a pot of juncus, among others. The pond is also home to a crew of platies that are busy eating algae and making babies.
