On September 28, soldiers from West Virginia patrolling D.C.'s Navy Yard area observed a man masturbating in public.

The soldiers "advised [him] to stop."

Police officers arrested him a little while later after they said they saw him peeing in front of a restaurant.

Been in one bar brawl that was mostly this, three seconds long, no punches connected, half the yapping guy's friends didn't do shit. We won, which was only because me and another guy had just gotten back from our deployment and reacted, but we still looked stupid as hell. No one got laid.

I get the sense that a staggeringly high percentage of guys who earnestly say with some regularity “fuck around and find out” simply do not understand that the real life versions of the street or bar fight they are picturing typically last a few seconds, don’t have defined winners, and look stupid

I also have a soft spot for Big Trouble, a bomb on a plane comedy that was supposed to be released on September 21 but obviously got pulled and dumped in the next spring. It's stupid but I enjoy it

I have a soft spot for the literal last one, Buffalo Soldiers (about corrupt soldiers in West Berlin), which has a limited release September 8, 2001 and those general release was pulled soon afterwards because it was too unpatriotic about the troops for the new climate.

I can't find the anecdote's source, so grain of salt, but I remember reading about, as they sat for one of this administration's first WH briefings in January 2025, one reporter turning to another and saying "we're so back."

They hated Biden for not leaking. And yes, want Trump to rule us.

Something our glorious Secretary of War does not seem to have considered is that the reason military PT and grooming standards, plus policies for EEO and abuse reporting, are the way they are is because they're necessary for recruitment and retention
