Friends don't let friends inflate numbers for the sake of having bigger numbers. It's a particular vice of video games (which don't require humans to do the math) but a tabletop example that comes to mind is Yu-Gi-Oh, in which every stat is multiplied by a 1000 just to look cool. Meaningless!
