The ward has four councillors and extends from the village of Greenrigg in the west to Seafield in the east. The seat has been divided between SNP and Labour-including long-serving councillors, the SNP’s Jim Dickson and Labour’s George Paul.

3. “These zones are designed to protect people, pets, and communities from the distress fireworks can cause. Other local authorities, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Falkirk, have already explored or implemented such measures.”
2. “It’s disappointing that West Lothian Council hasn’t taken steps to introduce Firework Control Zones, particularly when the Scottish Government has already provided councils with the power to do so through the Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles (Scotland) Act 2022.
3. Councillor Campbell’s nomination of the sole Lib Dem councillor Sally Pattle to chair the working group was rejected in favour of Labour's Tom Conn.

And an SNP proposal that Andrew Miller, who suggested the working group, be vice-chair was rejected in favour of Conservative Angela Doran-Timson.
2. She also doubted that a January reporting date outlined in the papers drawn up by the council's Governance Manager would give the working group enough time to speak to " a number of outside bodies including other local authorities for some expert advice."
1.Janet Campbell, the leader of West Lothian’s opposition SNP group, pointed out that the chair and vice chair appointed this week had both voted against the SNP proposal to set up the working group in the first place.

Pauline Orr, an SNP councillor asked if there was an update at this month’s meeting of the Governance and Risk Committee.

3. She reminded the meeting that a recent audit said the council had to do more to “ensure and clearly document how engagement with communities including vulnerable groups has informed changes.”
2. Councillor @paulinestaffordsnp.bsky.social , the SNP depute group leader maintained that the consultation time was tight, as was the time left for councillors to absorb the findings of the consultation from early January in the run up to the budget at the end of February.

Thank you to everyone who supported our motion today. Although it didn’t carry, we brought it forward because volunteers, management committees and residents deserve a real say in how their community centres are run. We’re disappointed, but we’re not surprised.

3/“Under the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987, a person should be treated as homeless, even if they have accommodation, if it would not be reasonable for them to continue to stay in it. West Lothian Council therefore have a legal duty to help people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.”
2/Councillor Campbell said: “West Lothian Council had no involvement in any decision making, taken by a charitable organisation. However, the Linburn tenants are West Lothian residents who have declared this is where they have put down roots, where their families are and where they want to live.
1/Raising her motion at a meeting of the full council group leader Janet Campbell urged the council to follow Edinburgh’s lead. The city council bought Ministry of Defence owned housing Dreghorn Barracks in the capital - including homes with sitting tenants.
