The university I work at it is literally encircled by England flags targeted sometimes implicitly and sometimes very explicitly at students of colour. I wonder why that isn’t part of the discussion about “keeping universities free from hate”? (I don’t actually wonder this).

That’s the line and by Christ, they are sticking to it come hell or high water. Let’s see whether it’ll work as well on e.g. Italian police arresting them at a holiday villa outside Rimini in 2033.

Hate has no place in our universities or our country.
Antisemitism must be rooted out of our society.
Our education system must play its part in keeping us free from fear and free from hate.

Day 284. Public Service Broadcasting: Night Flight

A remix release of one of my favourite albums of 2024. What you lose in the emotional impact of Last Flight, you gain in the sort of Berlinification which was the hallmark of the previous album Bright Magic. Different kind stands out.

Is it possible for a country to die of embarrassment?
@realDonald Trump
Thank you to President Putin!

Above a Putin quote about President Trump not winning the Nobel
Peace Prize:
"This award lost credibility. The committee discussed the prize for people who have done nothing for the world."
"He solves complex problems, crises that last for decades."

Coincidentally, religious delusions are a known side effect of ingesting psychedelics--a practice now apparently de rigeur among the Broligarchs.

Uh, slavers famously *censored* the Christian Bible, ripping out all the parts about justice and liberation, to prevent the slaves from getting any ideas about their own humanity.

Several retired national security types were involved in its creation I believe. They were listed in the credits. I also learned of this from the BBC’s arts programme Front Row. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

I enjoyed A House of Dynamite. It’s stressful as hell! I’d be interested in reading reactions from national security experts, but it absolutely captures how an enormous apocalypse machine exists on a hair trigger. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wpw...

House of Dynamite highlights what happens with a competent administration in moments of crisis - and how big a struggle it is even when we have the experts in place.

Saw it earlier too. Excellent to be fair. What time is the Doomsday Clock on?

Went to see Katherine Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite. Quite glad I’ll be among those who won’t have a clue what the hell just hit them.

The Wall Museum in Berlin, located at the former Checkpoint Charlie--border crossing btw E & W Germany--it's packed w/items attesting to the desperation of ppl trapped in fascist regimes, from hand-sewn hot air balloons to impossibly small hidey holes in VW Bugs.

I fear the US is heading for this.
DIY hot air balloon used in an effort to escape East Germany. VW Bug with a teeny tiny hiding spot under the hood.
