There is no such thing as a good book. Every book should find its readers and the canon is basically used to reinforce cultural hegemony to this day and it's a problem.

Our butcher block counters came from Bauer Brothers, great place. Visiting there makes me wish i had a lot more house (i don't actually want any more house than i have)

Heads up, the massive architectural salvage Bauer Brothers in North is having a huge downsizing sale

I've read IJ twice, a few years apart. It has a complicated structure, which makes it a fun read though it's so stupidly long that few people make it through. The actual story isn't that important, but would make for a pretty fun Wes Anderson movie.

I still remember my home phone number from when i was in 2nd grade for some reason

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

“I still can’t believe how unhinged the last update was. Not only the nudity but the motions, boobs bounces more realistically, it’s incredible.”

Elon Musk's xAI seems to have relaxed filters on Grok's video generation, allowing users to create and share explicit AI pornography.

It's interesting how much work "some" and "most" do when looking at supporting the relatively limited range of apple hardware, though i do understand not all of it is well documented.

If you've ever listened to Danzig it's impossible to watch the new Ed Gein documentary without hearing Danzig singing MOTHER every time Ed says it.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

A big theme I’m learning with the recent songs in the series is that the huge bands of the ‘60s got huge because of the outsized ambition of the band (or individuals in the band) and not because they got lucky and happened to be popular
