Hello! It takes a lot of energy to build a new network after so long in "the other place", I'm wary of more precious time lost online but I'm here for art, nature, books & hopefully real community & kindness. Hoping for a few visitors to witchmountain.co.uk too, to keep the wolf from the door.

I love ours ( photos from recent night out in the mist) but it can be temperamental and we were nervous of using it in the summer, even on lake shore. I have been glad of it during power cuts!
No, it's ok I found them... I just wanted to know who to credit if I share the picture 🙂 ( the window itself is my father's work in collaboration with the National Glass Centre in Sunderland )
This is a great photo of the window, do you know the photographer?
My most popular recent Instagram post is this flaming marshmallow on a stick, not the art I spent hours making 😏... still, when seen together like this they do have matching eerie and Autumnal colour schemes.

in Cumbrian dialects, 'hullet' is owl. A bird of magic and wisdom; a symbol of the divine feminine; of the moon; and light in the darkess of night

"Can you confirm your full name? ... Awesome"
Having said that, in a job with repetitive customer interactions (bookshop), it's easy to overuse words like perfect when someone manages to navigate the card machine without appearing utterly baffled by the concept.
Thank you Helen, it's such a special place for me.
I mean, Peintmaking has to be worth checking out doesn't it 🙄😂
#Cumbria Printmakers Out of Ink exhibition opens at the Kirkgate Centre, Cockermouth tomorrow with an evening PV.

Spotlight on #TheCompanyOfOwls paperback - officially out tomorrow - though if you know anything about these tawnies, you'll know they do what they want when they want to do it, so no surprise some of them have branched early. Let me know if you spot one roosting near you! #BookSky #NatureWriting

Some days seem to fit together like a stained glass window. A hundred little pieces of different color and mood that, when combined, create a complete picture.

Also: writers SHOULD be paid for their work. Substack encourage writers to charge high rates then take 10% of that. I decided to fuck that system off. You can read over 100,000 words of my writing for £10 a year. If you want to pay more, great. If you don't, also great. Thanks for the support.
I deleted my Substack: a decision which might well fuck up my financial security/book sales/various other things but I've decided it's the right decision & I'm sticking with it. My newsletter now goes out via Ghost & you can subscribe to it for as little as as £10 a year: the-villager.ghost.io

If you find a grounded swift, it needs expert & urgent help. Please contact me so I can link to rehabber. These birds can’t easily take off from the ground & in hot weather, chicks who 👀 like this aren’t quite able to fly & often are pushed or jump out of their nests.
