Yom Kippur is a day of reflection, of forgiveness, of restoration. This year, may we all pray for a better, kinder, more peaceful future.

Wishing all who observe across the five boroughs and the world a meaningful, easy fast. G’mar chatimah tovah.

Trans Rights Readathon is March 21-31 🏳️‍⚧️
and since it is especially needed this year, I made a booklist of trans horror authors to seek out and discover (myself included). These are exceptional works of fiction in a variety of formats, so please—take your pick (but do!)
No Institution is radical, no Institution will liberate or save us, we will save each other. And I wish places like Nightwood would stop pretending that they were here to help us do that.
It is using the idea of being progressive while still trying to toe the line that will get you the most money. It is the type of Institutional avarice that leads to companies making shitty art. It is what happens over and over again, no matter how leftist these Theatre Companies are.
It is expecting people to donate under the guise of "Supporting Feminist Futures" but not being transparent about the fact that, apparently, Palestine is not part of that imagined future.
but alienating young-in-craft artists, alienating Palestinian artists, alienating artists who are against genocide, not wanting to advertise or support fundraising for refugees for fear that it will be too partisan and you will lose funding. That's not feminism, that's cowardice.
I for one, am not particularly kind so I have tried not to say very much - but I will say this: a theatre, any theatre, that makes the decision to engage in Feminist politics but refuses to take a stand against genocide, is a White Feminist theatre. Engaging in the optics of being progressive,
I think the way the Innovators and artists involved have handled this has been very generous, patient & empathetic. Nightwood is lucky to have attracted so many kind, talented, and brilliant artists who are dedicated to justice and equity. I wish they had taken this opportunity to learn from them.
A genuine skill is being able to figure out whether someone is willing to take feedback on their bad takes, or whether someone is committed to being stupid. It is difficult but necessary.
I'm so glad that the company I social media managed for never got flamed, man. People are so stupid.

This is a great resource and at least tells you what kind of legal protections exist in each country on paper, along with how long your US passport will let you stay there without a visa.

Trump: Today I'm also signing an executive order to instruct the departments of defense and homeland security to begin preparing the 30,000 person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay

Johanne Sacrebleu, you are already my favorite film of the year
This is so goddamn funny
Making performative International Holocaust Remembrance Day posts without actually talking about what's happening in the world is an affront to the memory of those who died.

Never again is never again for anyone.
