Pop culture, theme parks, my wife, and our cats make me happy. Not necessarily in that order.

I just realized I’m going to have to suffer through a whole year of people complaining about historical inaccuracies in Nolan’s #TheOdyssey.

The harshest reality a toy collector must ever come to terms with is that one’s own space is not infinite.

This holiday season I’m hoping to get some gifts that are real conversation stoppers.

For the record, I am firmly in the camp of #Plur1bus is brilliant, Vince Gilligan is (still) a genius, “Gap” is the best episode so far, the pacing is perfect, Carol is (was?) right about pretty much everything, and Manousos’s outright refusal to deal with the hive mind in any way is… inspirational.

Here’s the only thing you really need to know about generative AI: pretty much every single creative person you respect and admire is against it, while the people in favor of it are almost exclusively tech bros and soulless executives at billion-dollar conglomerates.

Well guess I won’t be seeing that.

One thing that the VHS era and the age of social media definitely have in common is the complete and utter disregard for original aspect ratios.

Christmastime Hot Take: If you’re performing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and change the “scary ghost stories” lyric I immediately lose all respect for you.

I’m turning 46 years old next week, I’m probably one of the ten biggest Star Wars fans I know (which is saying a lot, because I know some really big Star Wars fans) and I have never seen the original cut of Star Wars in the theater. I have a feeling that’s going to be an emotional day.

The roar of applause in the theater when Han shoots first again is going to be deafening.

Fair warning: do not watch “Train Dreams” and the John Candy documentary back-to-back while your wife is out of town if you don't want your cats to see you openly weeping for four hours straight.

Ever find yourself in a surprisingly good mood and then immediately become hesitant to do anything, out of fear of spoiling it?

Mashup request: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and “I’m Gonna Always Love You” from The Muppets Take Manhattan.

I remember friends criticizing Paul Dano’s performance in There Will Be Blood back when it came out, but I just watched it again the other day and I don’t see the problem. He’s always come across as the exact right type for that character(s). I don’t know what else you want.

My Thanksgiving tradition is choosing a jigsaw puzzle so difficult that everyone is angry at me by the end of the week.

Pretty sure “Hamnet” was the title of a recurring sketch on “Muppets Tonight!” about two pigs who were cops.

So Philomena Cunk is pretty much just Ali G huh? (Thanksgiving means being exposed to things I probably wouldn’t have otherwise sought out.)
