@halseanderson.bsky.social didn't really need to be sobbing on my front porch this morning, but Rebellion, 1776 did me in. Gotta say I love a middle grade book that doesn't pull any punches. So good.
"This one simple trick will save your eyes," I grumble to myself as after several hours of doomscrolling I remember to put on my computer glasses so the words will actually be in focus.
That and Fast Times at Ridgemont High horrified me when I finally saw them.

I think this is extraordinary: the most recent Democratic Presidential nominee thinks our political system is broken and not strong enough to defend our most fundamental principles.

We have to understand that this crisis is bigger than one person, or one party--it's the entire system.
Kamala Harris on Colbert: "Recently I decided, I don't want to go back into the system. I think it's broken."

"I always believed our systems would be strong enough to defend our most fundamental principles. Right now, I don't think they're as strong as they need to be.
Every accusation is a confession.
I always appreciate northwest settings and older protagonists. I loved that once Sheila opened herself to community, that connection spread all over the timeline.
I am stuck in a German hospital for several days. My friend's husband loaned me one of his precious issues of Asimov's Science Fiction. Molly Gloss's short story Wápato is simply lovely. Makes me wonder if she and LeGuin were friends. #booksky 📚💙
Me, a 56 year old woman with a horrifying foot infection as I'm briskly wheeled down a hall by the German orderly, softly to myself: wheeeee
