I very much support this idea. Supporters and opponents both acknowledge it can be abused. Are there any safeguards written into this to minimize that risk? Like defining the size of landlord or business it will target or carve out for small businesses? Or a tiered system? I haven't found that info
I didn't vote for Carter his 1st term, but he won me over and I proudly supported him last election and will this election. He did so many positive things for youth in our city and it's made an obvious difference. Also, he got Ayd Mill bike lane done. And he's just present for the community at large
Have really been enjoying KALX all day today with the spooky music mixed in to all the playlists. Heard some new to me songs that will definitely be added to a future Halloween mix.
Having been in this situation, yes, that has been my thought. I look around at the studio and 1 bedroom units being built and wonder why we aren't building more for people like my neighbors, who end up moving to far out suburbs instead for the space. And they've all been great neighbors, btw.
As I am conflicted on this issue, help me understand-the city already has laws in place to deal with problem property. As this new law is vague, how can we be assured this won't just be another way to protect wealthy developers over St Paul citizens, including renters in NOAHs and SFH owners?
I've seen it as an additional event, not a replacement for Halloween door to door activity. The downfall that I see is way too much candy than kids ever used to get. And handfuls of candy get handed out at each place, so even limits like small buckets cut into the fun of just going door to door.
It's never perfect for everyone, I guess. My area has opposite issues - I've seen past UPDC/HMC block and fight so much commercial development that we are blighted. I've felt more support for pushing development from Carter than I ever did from Coleman, who seemed checked out of neighborhood issues.
No, I live in Hamline Midway. There has been more focus on youth programs and family support than in the past. There has been more focus on infrastructure. Things aren't perfect, but I have seen improvement. And I have seen Carter be present more than the last mayor.
I have people asking me who I am voting for in this election, people who usually agree with me on local issues. I say of course it's Carter. I can't believe anyone can seriously look around and not see things improving and how much the credit goes to Carter for that.
I used to be heavily invested in local politics, but I look at what's going on at the Federal Government level and the little nuances and tifts in local politics just seem so petty these days.
That has to be extra lucky!

Stood outside on an Iowa farm that was mostly free of light, wind-chill of 32*, but it was worth it. Saw Comet Lemmon ☄️ slightly with naked eye and much clearer with binoculars. apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap25093...

Woke up Friday morning thinking I was going to see Beethoven's Fifth at MN Orchestra. Then discovered that there were affordable tickets to see McCartney. Ended the night at a fantastic show! ❤️
Growing up in a farm, I was so thankful when I moved to St Paul so I could walk to everything. The problem with being in a town where people don't want to walk for purpose, tho, is that many businesses that I moved near to walk to often move to places that are just too far from my home. 😞
I really don't like American pop music, never have. So why do I enjoy K-Pop? Probably because I don't hear it all the time? I have no idea.
I sent it to public works and got a response that it was forwarded to St Paul Regional Water.
I am not sure. It is a hole missing the water valve cover and big enough to catch a wheel of a scooter and some bicycles to cause one to tip. Maybe 4 or 5 inches? The broken cover is in the boulevard.
@cityofsaintpaul.bsky.social have reported via email this about a month ago, but posting again as I envision some bicyclist or scooter rider missing this hole at night and severely injuring themselves. How long before it's repaired @seankershaw.bsky.social Saint Anthony Ave and Fry St
As we were talking about the local election tonight, my 10 year old declared she hoped @mayorcarter.bsky.social was mayor for life, so, I don't know what your future plans are, Mr Mayor, but my daughter has plans...
Yeah, I was seeing the flashing on my walk. Didn't know at first if it was a helicopter spot light or lightning. Didn't hear thunder, but eventually concluded it was likely lightning after seeing it consistently
