they also make all the sega IPs exclusive to the console to encourage folks to buy it (pc still gets ports)

it may be copium but i think people would buy a sega console (if its on par/cheaper price-wise than the switch 2) for Persona, Yakuza, Warhammer (if they could secure that with GW) and Sonic

i cant prove what nintendos budget was for mario odyssey, but pokemon scarlet/violet had a budget of ~$21,000,000, and i would imagine mario had to be close to that. the difference is that the pokemon company wastes its budget more than nintendo does (ed sheeran was not a requirement for s/v)
