Graham Greene helped make the rest of the world see Indigenous people as real human beings. The first time I saw him on screen was in Dances With Wolves and the last time was in The Last of Us. What a tremendous legacy! RIP ✊🏽🙌🏽❤️
I think we’re at the end of pre 😬

At night, Neskantaga Coun. Lashaunda Waswa read aloud to the dozen or so youth from @waub.bsky.social Rice’s post-apocalyptic, back-to-the-land novel “Moon of the Crested Snow.”
She says the story about cities gone dark & First Nations having to rely on each other for survival is relatable.
Wow, big thanks, Jeremy! I’m thrilled the story resonated with you. And thanks for connecting here! Hope your summer is winding down smoothly

Thanks a lot! I love what Billy did with both books. Major life highlight to have him do the narration!

#Booksky rec: Moon of the Crusted Snow by @waub.bsky.social was so good I immediately started Moon of the Turning Leaves which will stay with me forever - wow! I highly recommend the audio versions because Anishinaabemowin is so beautiful to hear and Billy Merasty is a joy to listen to.

I've been saving @waub.bsky.social "Moon of the Turning Leaves" for my trip up to the Boundary Waters, and can now confirm that this novel is perfect accompanied by the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks and the haunting cry of the loons.
Ha! Right on! Thanks for the shoutout Jeff

If you’ve read @waub.bsky.social’s Moon of the Turning Leaves, you’ll get the coincidence of finding this old Nat Geo beside the TV at one of our vacation stops.

I recommend it if you’re interested in a different angle on post-apocalyptic storytelling (read Moon of the Crusted Snow first).

My 30 year, 3 continent search for the best club sandwich has a new top club.

Cafe St Paul’s in Perth, Scotland.

Rustic bread with the perfect toastiness; real chicken slices; bacon, lettuce, tomato; and a slight zing to the mayo.
