I do think a lot more games would cross the line if they hired/listened to competent writers. For me, only RTSs can really cross the threshold of "enough core game mechanics to make it worth $100." But fun mechanics in game plus a story that's worth hearing AND part of the gameplay? That can do it

Stellaris + dlc has cost me north of probably $200 and I think it is worth it. Baldur's Gate 3 would have been worth $100. Cyberpunk was worth the $20 or $30 I paid for it on sale, despite me playing it for about as much time as BG3

The only thing I have read about her that was bad was her siding with Stanisław Lem during his tantrum at the SFWA, but I have only read the Wikipedia summary of that. Maybe he had a good point, but it seems really stupid

And yet that's how video games were, proportionally, years ago. With fewer reviews, no gameplay videos, and shorter games. If you were into wood working and bought a new lathe that didn't meet your needs, you'd be out more money, but I don't hear woodworkers whining.

They are fun. I don't get the people who say the story is emotionally impactful, maybe it just isn't for me, but it is a neat sci-fi premise and you get to bow hunt robot dinosaurs.

I heard about Bitcoin early enough that if I had been convinced I could be a Bitcoin millionaire. However I would be so much worse because I would have convinced myself I'm a genius. But I'd be rich.

It does seem hard to get the 2 funguses to grow together. We finally got a few morels to grow in our backyard after like a decade of throwing a couple into likely spots every year until some grew. They now function as a warning system for when season arrives.

On the one hand, broadening the scope to bad fiction really means you'll never run out of episodes. On the other, doing it even once will mean your inbox will be nothing but horrible novel suggestions
