Omg I forgot to post a silly little "leave the white suckers alone"
Red and white sign: PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY with image of a fish on a plate with fork and knife with the red circle and slash meaning NO

Its a lot of text about how dangerous it is to eat the brown bullheads and white suckers from the Naponset River, and you should catch and release only

I don't even know what that means, that people were relying on low balance notifications too much? Like, isn't the POINT of the app that it gives you a low balance notification so you know to top up?

It means I can be interested/excited about basically anything, every aspect of life has Things and Events and its so nice to notice the details and work out how/why things happen! Absolutely a muscle that you build and maintain. One of the worst things about depression is that it steals this from me

Been thinking about this a lot lately, that one of the best things my mom did for us is instill a curiosity about the world and an excitement to Experience the "mundane" around us (rocks, bugs, sky, etc), same for my dad and why do things physically happen, esp mechanically

In my personal life I have moved away from thinking of people as stupid. Instead I just think of people as "incurious," where the Doing of learning has become something they are too tired, scared, or proud to pursue. Curiosity is, I think, the greatest human virtue, the Doing of learning.

to me, Doing is a knife that must be continually honed, however small the grind wheel available to you is, because to me it's not about how sharp the knife actually is it's about the process of honing itself. if you are Doing then you are living. there are always opportunities to Do if you seek them

Honestly the first thing we said on unpacking was where can we put this that the cat cant reach

I /am/ an American civilian? I am in fact just now coming home from a week helping my brown queer friends prep for civil war? Turns out people's lives can be complicated and intertwined!
warehousepanda.bsky.social
Well I just helped some friends share secure copies of their important papers, get travel docs, etc together so they can disperse quickly, but I dont live in the US so have a different set of problems
warehousepanda.bsky.social
Yes, and yes. And I think that delusion will carry on for a LOT longer, until the point at which fear takes over bc most people do not have a plan for "we are at mass civilian execution phase"

This week i learned this is an explicit, coordinated strategy so ICE can't show photos of them 'fighting' protesters and claim its lawless gangs. Instead its ICE shooting cartoons, something impossible to argue is not a villain move.

Love your optimism, comrade, but i sincerely doubt the civilian population has the appetite or training to deal with it all once the military starts regularly shooting civilians on a large scale (like, multiple people per shooting, not geographically)

I have been spending the week with this beautiful dying baby and I think our goodbye photo session on the way to the airport is perfect, honestly
Photo of me with Felix, a beautiful little sort of mutt cattle dog, in the back seat of a car. Don't worry, we are both buckled in! I am looking at the camera but Felix is looking down bc he doesnt understand posing for photos with me Photo of me, face still pointed at the camera but Im looking down at Felix, who is now looking very interestly out the window. My arm is now around him to try to convince him this photo is a shared activity we are doing. Maybe he is just trying to show his beautiful little profile? Now im actively trying to trick him into looking up towards the camera, so you can see me making a face that is like, definitely making fake excited noises, and my one hand is blurry from like, waving to get his attention. Felix, undeterred, is back to looking down. I am desperate. Felix is finally looking up bc im scratching under his chin but now he's too close to the camera and is out of focus. I'm laughing very hard by now, but as always I am still facing the camera! Felix could learn a lot from me
