hi I'm vulp, 24. I like programming and furries. expect mostly politics on here, sorry. I'm also on the fedi https://wetdry.world/@vulp
people say it sets a bad precedent to prosecute your political opponents, but failing to do so sets a much worse one! the lawlessness of the Trump admin is a direct result of decades of elite impunity. it's not political persecution if you're prosecuting them for their many obvious crimes!

Don't fine ICE, put ICE agents who did crimes in jail.

Don't fine companies, put CEOs who gave the president obvious bribes in jail.

And so on.

The aim should be for individual, not institutional, accountability.

Did a university obviously violate the first amendment rights of its faculty to suck up to Trump? Don't seek to fine the university, *seek to jail its president and trustees.*

People make decisions, people bear consequences.

A significant part of recovering from Trump 2.0 is going to be prosecuting its lawbreaking and the non-administration officials who aided it.

I'm not a lawyer but the 'Conspiracy against rights' statute (18USC241) seems like it could be a vehicle for pursuing non-state actors in this regard.

They believe that Trump will use the formal powers of the government and whatever informal powers he may have to extract costs from them if they do not play ball and they equally believe that the anti-Trump coalition will not extract these costs.

So we need to extract those costs.
given how unpopular Trump is, it’s insane that civil society/universities/law firms are still asking themselves “how do I stay on Trump’s good side” rather than “how do I avoid facing consequences for complying with Trump’s illegal demands”
New Gallup poll shows Trump's approval hit a new low for his second term:
-36% approve
-60% disapprove

His approval among Republicans went from 91% in January to 84% in November

democrats should slow recruitment for Trump's illegal terror campaign by publicly committing to prosecuting every ICE agent

the primary goal of the next administration should in fact be prosecuting absolutely everyone from the Trump admin

a few candidates have talked about this but any Dem planning to run in 2028 should make it explicit: the next DOJ will, in fact, go after you if you’re funding this awful ballroom, or any other pay to play deals you make with this administration
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

"spitting on vietnam vets" was not ever a real phenomenon but it should be a real thing for iraq, afghanistan, and venezuela war vets. fuck your veterans discount I don't think you should be served at all if you've served

also i have something to say about the concept of "gifted": it's a lie and it's eugenics. the gifted and talented program in the US was invented in the late 1950s in response to desegregation

A lot of people, both gleeful Republicans, and cowering Liberals looking for an excuse to show their bellies, mistook a narrow victory in a low turnout cost of living election as a total cultural victory and have been acting as if that is a strong mandate for a slate of cruel, regressive policy

The ethnic cleansing program of the U.S. government exists outside of, and is not restrained by, any kind of law
Beyond depraved: "Hours after her detainment, court documents obtained by ABC News show that a federal judge ordered the government not to remove the 19-year-old from the U.S. and not to transfer her outside of Massachusetts. But Lopez Belloza was deported to Honduras the next day."

dems spent 4 previous years post-failed coup trying to segregate the GOP into MAGA and non-MAGA factions and work to rehabilitate and normalize the non-MAGA ones as an effort to marginalize the MAGA faction. it was a disaster and they cannot do it again.
