I cannot begin to tell you how disconnected academia is from game design in a way that is actually detrimental to both. As both an academic and a game designer in the commercial market, there's so, SO much potential to make incredible leaps in design, and the communication is just. Not. There.

This is going to depress some people but I cannot understate that this mentality, 'If I don't like you, I can just kill you', is the POINT of a lot of the American cultural psychology when tied to the patriarchy, Imperialism, colonialism, and exceptionalism, and it stems entirely from fear.
