Joanna Ho and Caroline Kusin Pritchard, authors of THE DAY THE BOOKS DISAPPEARED, had their elementary school author visit canceled when they arrived and students were waiting for them.

Why? Because they wouldn't *not* talk about book bans–inspiration for their book.

Why Did These Authors Have Their School Visit Canceled? They Were Talking About Their Book About Book Bans.
Country Club Elementary School in California's Bay Area canceled an author visit moments before it began. Why? It covered book bans.

Is everyone forgetting an entire plot point from the recent pop culture phenomenon show The Bear in which two main (white) characters refer to each other as "cousin" even though they are not, in fact, blood relation cousins?
Sorry I refuse to entertain the complete non-existent world where white people don’t know that countless cultures, including some of their own but certainly diasporic racialized ones, call their mom’s cousin’s friend’s sister they grew up with “cousin” and call close women elders “aunt/auntie”
"If we get socialized healthcare, we'll never be able to get in to see a Dr!"
My bro, I've been on hold with Drs offices trying to make an appt so much in the last week that the hold muzak is stuck in my head, and my partner & I pay a $300 premium per month for the privilege.
I think I saw something about this in a Buzzfeed headline a few days ago, but it made so little sense that I assumed I was having a stroke.
Every time I get a stretch of time when I can completely immerse myself in a sewing project, it makes me so happy that when I then think of all the projects I want to do but rarely have time for, I need to lie down and have a little cry and a long nap.
This looks like the Wiki page of some fandom drama.
(I tried to use the W11 start menu to see if my admin had already installed Firefox, but the start menu just kept diverting me to a web search instead)
I love how the tech overlords can just choose to ruin our lives on a daily basis and there ain't shit the average human can do about it just because they won't listen to anyone who doesn't lick their boots and throw money at them.
Trying to work in library land today is like a weird game of "Green Glass Door": the ILS is working, but Hoopla is not; WorldShare is working, but LibCal is not; LibraryH3lp is working, but Canva is not.
*sigh* My kingdom in exchange for a life of not being sold something every 5 seconds of every day. 😑
Had a dream last night I was starting a new school (blame watching S1 BTVS before bed) but the only way to find my class schedule & room # s was an app. But the app wasn't working & the students kept responding "really, Caitlin?" every time I asked for help.

Anyway, I woke up to hear AWS was down.

To become dependent on ChapGPT is to evacuate yourself from your own life.

YIKES, no thanks. I’m gonna be alive inside every damn thing I do, even and especially the ish I don’t wanna do.
I've been trying to explain The Gnome Mobile to people and most of them don't believe me.
Protip: you can memorize any phone number by singing it to the tune of "when the saints go marching in." They made us memorize the camp phone # that way for out-of-camp trips. ("Call seven-nine-threeeee! Oh two two threeee! Call seven nine three oh two two three. With area code five [redacted]...")
If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
My antifa cousin told me that homeless shelters are hotbeds for antifa radicalization, so if you give all the unhoused folks their own housing, they wouldn't be able to organize anymore.

a friend of mine in antifa told me that antifa's headquarters is SHEIN and if the company fell the whole network would fall
Somehow a better and more deserved burn than any name calling or simple fact checking could have accomplished.
We had to switch to primarily using Ingram this summer because our B&T orders just weren't getting filled, and they wouldn't tell us. We'd just suddenly realize none of our copies of a bestseller had arrived and there was a 3-digit hold list. Somehow I didn't think it'd end this way, though.
I just block accounts that I see steal posts verbatim. Some "Blue Chronicle" account stole the Epstein files post I quoted earlier (which I guess is why it showed up in my feed). I'm a librarian. Cite ur shit around me. It's so easy to share w/ attribution on today's internet. Anything else is petty
Yeah, humans are just that. If you're a sociopath...
I keep seeing posts like this, and I can't tell if they're meant to be tongue-in-cheek? Because I think all of this city invading and government shutdown is stuff they were planning on doing from the start, even if they had been able to bury the files.
I was a skeptic about the import of the Epstein files.

But 3 invasions of cities, one military buildup outside Venezuela, a government shutdown, and so many other things meant to distract have me convinced whatever’s in there is the biggest presidential scandal in U.S. history.
