Industrial agriculture grabs land and ships in feed, just to feed Europe’s factory farms.
It imports 96% of soy from abroad – fueling deforestation and pushing rural communities off their lands.

Let’s feed people, not factory farms.

Food Security, anyone? Industrial agriculture consumes most of our food, while millions go hungry in Europe.

Most EU farmland isn’t supporting people - it’s feeding factory farms.
That’s land we need to grow real food and nourish communities.

Just 1% of Europe’s biggest farms pocket a staggering 23% (€ 8.7 billion) of EU public money for agriculture.

The result? Small-scale farms vanish, and a new generation of farmers are locked out of the land.

Food Security , anyone? Europe is losing its farmers.

5.3 MILLION farms have disappeared since 2005. Small-scale farmland is being eaten up by Big Agri corporations.

Big industrial farms make starting out nearly impossible.

Today it's exactly 6 years ago that EU Commission President Von der Leyen announced the European Green Deal, which she called "Europe's Man on the Moon moment" 🎂

Von der Leyen's priority today? Acting on corporate demands for #deregulation, recklessly rolling back environment and health standards 😡

Yet more really worrying #deregulation developments
Corporate lobby groups demand a “social omnibus” to roll back workers’ rights ⚠️

Lobby groups linked to BusinessEurope call for #deregulation of the pay transparency directive, posted workers directive, etc.

Corporate lobbyists will today be ticking off a few more demands from their deregulation hit-list.

And by emphasising how it will “stress test” all EU environment rules by 2029 it’s clear that far more roll-back is in the pipeline.

🔴 No adequate protection measures for the organic sector and other GMO-free chains

The only positive aspect are the sustainability criteria: NGT1 plants cannot be herbicide-resistant and cannot produce insecticides themselves.

🔴 Patents: a very weak compromise on a voluntary code of conduct, further weakened by Commissioner Varhelyi himself. Farmers and breeding companies will pay the price.

🔴 No traceability, no monitoring, no mandatory buffer zones or other co-existence measures (only optional for member states)

And there's more:

🔴 For NGT1 plants there is no risk assessment, even though everyone agrees there is no scientific basis to claim that NGT1-plants are safe for food

🔴 No labelling, so consumers can no longer see what they eat
