We wanted something at the centre of our Xbox 360 20th anniversary week, and a chat with Peter was top of our list. A man who I think symbolises a very different attitude around Microsoft's console business then vs now.

Donaldson as ever is great here talking about retro and the Analogue 3D. I'm torn between head and heart as I'd love one, but my sensible brain is saying I wouldn't use it much www.eurogamer.net/analogue-3d-...
Analogue 3D review - better late than never, this N64 redux is another best-in-class retro experience
Analogue is back with a new high-end retro console - and this time it's the N64 getting the update treatment. But is it any good?

Doctor Who is a sci-fi soap opera for nerds (negative), but that doesn't stop this being a great read about how games can and do end up being very different to the initial plan.

There's a danger of this being "old man thinks the past was better" but the Xbox 360 era was such a great time to be working in games media. Personally my own work was going great, and industry-wise it felt as if we were in the sweet spot of games trying new things but also not requiring $300m.

Playing Lumines Arise, which I think I'd find brilliant if I wasn't awful at it. Did the training fine, but as soon as I'm in the game proper I lose all sense and everything goes to shit.

What are the actually good Christmas films? Last year we didn't watch many so I said I'd make a list, and the current list is small.

Not seen any chat about this (but I'm sure there has been some) - I'm watching Leonard and Hungry Paul on iPlayer in the evenings and it's a wonderful, touching, simple (not a negative) show that couldn't be more different to the average attention-grabbing big hitters of the moment. Big recommend.

Steam Machine spec seems a little lower than I expected. If I need to go find custom settings from DF for every game it will kind of defeat the purpose of being a more streamlined PC experience.
