The Returned and De-Powered Masks playbooks are on Itch! The Returned is about dying and coming back, like Jason Todd and Magik. The De-Powered is about losing your powers and still fighting, like Storm and Dani Moonstar

kind of unfair that Thomas Manuel is so fucking funny on top of being an incredible writer
Or the Society for Psychical Research, who did believe that these phenomena were real, but tried to find a scientific explanation because a lot of them didn't really believe souls existed (at least in the same way as the spiritualists)
One thing I think is interesting is that paranormal investigators ran the gamut from purely skeptic debunkers like Houdini to groups like The Ghost Club who were essentially the Victorian equivalent of modern tv ghost hunters.
Love it when an opponent has 100+ life and you have 3 PLUS they have a "you can't win, your opponent can't lose" card in play, so you hit em with the "infinite trigger combo until they get annoyed and quit" strategy

Like, in a movie, it might just be that that was the first set of curtains they grabbed for the set, and there wasn't any intention behind it.

But in a BOOK, where nothing is described unless it needs to be, if the author tells you the color of a random object, there is an intention behind it!

"The curtains were just blue" is especially egregious because we are, for the sake of argument, talking about a BOOK.

Where the author DID NOT HAVE TO TELL YOU the curtains were blue!
They are not beating the “thinks fiction is documentaries of fictional worlds” allegations
Like, if it’s a pretty set of art objects I’d like on its own I’ll buy a set of dice, but I’m not really approaching it like they’re gaming tools, because I have a set of dice already, and also a computer
I’m working on a project and I wanted to brainstorm. What pop culture trends do you think would influence ttrpgs if they were created in the early 1900s, instead of the sword and sorcery revival of the 1970s?

See, the trick is that "the GM exists for the players' amusement, whose job is to ruin their plans for fun" and "the GM rules like a king, and the players exist to be their playthings" is that these SEEM like opposite maladaptive approaches to play, but they both result in the GM doing all the work.

CHOTINER: So you asked for a Birkin bag?
KOKO: Yes. Possession Bag.
CHOTINER: And you had the funds to acquire this?
KOKO: No, Professor Purchase Koko Gorilla
CHOTINER: That doesn't sound like the funds were justifiable.
KOKO: Hostility Interviewer
“Ectoplasm” was coined by a Nobel prize winning doctor
Not enough steampunk stuff utilizes the fact that a surprising number of truly established legitimate scientists were convinced that psychic powers existed

@microsoft.com perhaps not a good look for your company to not only allow this imagery to be used at all but also to go on to refuse to comment about it
I asked Microsoft PR about this—specially the DHS using Halo IP to recruit for ICE—and the company declined to comment.
For every vampire on your steampunk avengers, you need at least two women who have mind powers or can talk to ghosts
Any steampunk superhero team should be like the x-men what with the number of telepaths running around

Thinking about how bows actually take way more upper body strength to wield than swords and yet every fantasy thing has archers be slim and effeminate because Gygax thought shooting bows was less manly
It took me a second to realize this was a random line from moby dick, I just assumed we had reached a new level of Advanced Posting
if the doctrine of Fast-Fish be pretty generally applicable, the kindred doctrine of Loose-Fish is still more widely so
Honestly you can get a good bit of a ttrpg campaign just by stealing from Chris Claremont
