And then, the vote was split! Unfortunately for New Yorkers, Ranked Choice Voting is only used for the Democratic Primary. Cuomo's candidacy is sure to fracture Democratic support in the General Election.

In a system using Ranked Choice Voting and Proportional Representation, many parties are allowed to compete for the same voters without fear of splitting the vote.

Because of that, voters don’t have to settle for one of two parties that may not reflect their beliefs.
